PCCC Programs

There are four branches of training within the PCCC program:

Accelerated Training Program (ATP) - after school training

Part-Time Training & Transition to Full-Time - part time day training

Junior Full-Time - half day training + on-site academics

Full-Time Training - half & full day training + on-site academics

Accelerated Training Program

The Accelerated Training Program (ATP) was developed to cater for children who show a natural aptitude for classical ballet, and wish to be accelerated in after-school hours. The classes focus on refining technique, conditioning/limbering the body and developing musicality and artistry. ATP classes are taken in addition to regular syllabus classes.

ATP LEVEL 1

7 - 9 years 1 hour p/week

In the first level of ATP, the focus is on the conditioning and limbering of the body, as well as training the fundamentals of coordination and musicality with fun, dynamic exercises to keep young minds and bodies engaged.

ATP LEVEL 2

9 - 11 years 3 hours p/week

ATP 2 introduces more structure to the childrens’ training, with formal ballet classes focusing on classical alignment and placement. Classes focusing on conditioning, limbering, coordination and musicality continue and increase in difficulty, building on the foundations set in ATP 1. Pre-pointe & beginner pointe classes are now included.

ATP LEVEL 3

12 - 14 years 8.5 hours p/week

ATP 3 expands on the foundations built in ATP 1 & 2. The students’ minds and bodies mature and change rapidly at this age, and as such, new classes are introduced to further their classical education: Ballet Education (music, ballet history, grooming & makeup, nutrition and psychology), Stretch Class and Focus Class. Repertoire is also introduced.

ATP LEVEL 4

14 - 16 years 10+ hours p/week

ATP 4 is the final and most advanced level of the program. Students accepted to this level will show significant potential for a career in classical ballet or contemporary dance. In addition to the classes introduced in Level 3, Level 4 students will study Contemporary & Improvisation. Many students in ATP 4 will also be in a PCCC full-time program, however this is not a requirement.

please note: age ranges & hours p/week are indicative only

Part-Time and Full-Time Transition

There are two programs offered by PCCC for students who are looking to full-time training in the future and wish to make a gradual transition. Students of both programs are coached during day time hours with the full-time PCCC faculty.

PART-TIME TRAINING

9 - 12 years one half day

This program is suitable for younger students who may not be willing or able to train in extensive after school hours, but still wish to be extended in their dance education. They experience day time training with the full-time PCCC faculty. Part-time students will train either one half day or one full day per week, inclusive of Classical Ballet, Pointe (girls), Contemporary, Conditioning and Limbering, and Repertoire.

TRANSITION TO FULL TIME

12 - 16 years one full day / week

The PCCC faculty acknowledge that committing to full time dance training is a big decision, and as such offer training that allows interested students to experience full time in a modified schedule. Dancers accepted to the transition program will train alongside full-time PCCC students for 1-3 full days of classes per week, depending on their school arrangements.

Junior Full-Time

Students between Year 7 and Year 9 full time + on-site academics

The Junior Full-Time Program is designed for the younger full time student who requires a more balanced approach to their academic and dance studies.

The PCCC faculty recognizes that students in the younger high school years - Years 7, 8 & 9 - require more assistance in their academic studies than their senior peers.

As such, the Junior Full-Time Program is structured in half days: academic studies with PCCC tutors in the morning, followed by dance studies in the afternoon, or vice versa.

This structure ensures that the children develop the correct study patterns and discipline to become the kind of independent learners they will need to be as they enter the senior full time schedule, and beyond.

The academic portion of their day takes place on-site at the studio, under the tutelage of excellent and highly qualified academic staff.

Daily classes include: Conditioning & Fitness, Classical Ballet, Pointe (girls), Male Technique (boys), Repertoire, Contemporary, Jazz, Stretch, Focus & Bridging Technique (adagio, pirouettes, allegro, port de bras) and Rehearsals.

As with the senior full-time students, enrolment for academics is through SIDE (School of Isolated and Distance Education)*.

Full-Time Training

Students yr 10 & above full time + on-site academics

PCCC provides a full-time training program for dancers who are ready to further their dance education toward a professional pathway. This is the highest and most intensive level of training offered.

At this stage of the students’ progression they will train 6 days per week, and maintain their academic studies through SIDE (School of Isolated and Distance Education).* Full-time students will continue to work with on-site academic tutors.

A full timetable of classes is provided with an internationally acclaimed faculty:

Daily classes include: Conditioning & Fitness, Classical Ballet, Pointe (girls), Male Technique (boys), Repertoire, Contemporary, Pas de Deux, Character, Mime, Jazz, Stretch, Focus & Bridging Technique (adagio, pirouettes, allegro, port de bras) and Rehearsals.

At this level, dancers will begin preparations for auditions to pre-professional schools and companies. This includes participating in international competitions, such as YAGP, to secure placements.

Full-time students also enjoy a calendar of social events and excursions, including trips to the theatre, the beach, and a yearly full time formal.

*Full time students are expected to maintain a consistently high level of academic achievement; in the event that a student falls behind, their dance timetable is modified and in extreme cases suspended until their academic studies are satisfactorily completed.
