PERFORMANCES

There are four annual performances for KMPAA & PCCC students - Contemporary Gala, PCCC Mid-Year Showcase, Full Length Ballet, and the Main Concert. In addition to these, the students also participate in various competitions throughout the year, both locally and overseas. The school believes that regular performance experience is vital for dancers’ confidence, and an essential part of their training.

Contemporary Gala

Students in KMPPA contemporary extension programs and PCCC full-time programs participate in a Contemporary Gala annually. This gala typically includes work by guest choreographers, faculty choreographers, as well as composition by the students themselves. The faculty see improvisation and composition as essential skills for the students to acquire in their contemporary training, the gala being the perfect opportunity to develop them.

Mid-Year PCCC Showcase

Every June, PCCC students perform in a showcase of their talents. These showcases vary, including classical and contemporary repertoire, as well as original choreography from faculty. All training programs within PCCC participate. Selected students from outside PCCC may also participate, by audition only.

End-of-year Full Length Ballet

Every October, students from both KMPAA & PCCC, from grade 3 to full-time, perform in a full length ballet. This is a fantastic way for the students to become familiar with the classical repertoire, learn the art of mime and storytelling in ballet, and work together to ensure the success of the production. Some of our recent ballets include: Coppélia, The Nutcracker, Don Quixote, La Bayadere and Swan Lake.

End-of-year Main Concert

The main concert features all KMPAA & PCCC students, showcasing all styles of dance that are offered at the studio. It begins with a 40 minute ‘mini-ballet’ which includes all young ballet students, from tiny dancers to Grade 2, and is lead by the ATP 2 students. Some past mini-ballets include Wizard of Oz, Frozen and Peter Pan. The second act showcases a variety of ballet, contemporary, lyrical, jazz, hip hop and acrobatics, giving all students the opportunity to show off their hard work & passion!
